A month later...

What to do when you are an exchange student in Canada...
Canoe trip (camping in the rain for 8 days and canoeing for 3)

Walk around a park with friends than go to the grocery store and buy junk food

Grad prank (block the school's parking lot and make a little party there)

Visit the Columbia ice field with the counselor and her daughter

Go out with the girls
Sair com as meninas

Exchange banners with your host club
Trocar banners com seu host club

Go out with friends
Sair com as amigas

Feed the horses
Alimentar os cavalos

Go to a fire

Have a camp fire / farewell party with the host families

And go out with the girls a little more

Hey everyone, sorry I've been away for such a long time, I mean it's been a MONTH since I posted for the last time here :o I know it's bad but I just haven't had any time, I leave Canada pretty soon so I've been trying to enjoy it here as much as I can and that meant no time for making good posts. My opinion is if I'm not gonna do something right it's better not to do it so that's why didn't post anything at all.
This post is to show you guys what I've been doing lately and maybe you can have an idea of things to do in Canada, I mean this blog is about traveling too right?
Hope you enjoy!

Where do I belong?

(This image does not belong to me)

This week two of my best friend's had their birthdays, one of them back in Brazil and the other here in Canada. I was able to celebrate with my Canadian friend but not with the Brazilian... next year it will be the opposite, I'll be close to my Brazilian friends but far from the Canadian ones.

Being an exchange student divides us in between two worlds, all of the sudden we have two homes, two of our own countries, two parallel universes which are only connected by ourselves. We will always be missing someone, somewhere, something that in our minds was supposed to be different. That is the beauty and the challenge of being an exchange student, being only one person and belonging to two different places.

Packing round 2

In the life of an exchange students, packing is something that we do constantly.
It is not fun, it takes hours and we have to pack EVERYTHING WE OWN at least twice during our exchange... by the time we are half way through our exchanges we have so much useless stuff that we don't even know what to do.
It feels like if we leave something behind, we'll be leaving a part of us behind and we will never see it again because after this year we are going back home and the life we live now will be gone forever.
Packing is not only hard physically but also emotionally, because it means you are leaving that wonderful or awful family you are living with currently.
Wish me luck because I'm moving today!

International Dinner for ShelterBox

Shelter box and everything that come in it
(since the super resistant tent to all the utensils that people need to survive)
 Exchange students singing together
 Decorating the venue

This saturday the dinner that me and the other exchange students have been organizing for months finally happened and it was a success!!
The goal of the dinner was to raise  money to help something called ShelterBox which is a disaster relief kit, created and sponsored by Rotary. We did everything for the dinner, since cleaning, decorating, helping to cook (we had one volunteer chef), we made the dessert ourselves (they were typical from our countries) and then we took everything down and cleaned up. It was the most tiring weekend of my life but it was worth it because we raised enough money to buy 12 shelter boxes (after paying for all of our expenses), considering each kit costs one thousand dollars I think we did amazing.
A big thank you for all the Rotarians that helped us organizing and making this happen and to all of the people that went to the dinner or made donations!

Waterton

Bear!!

This past weekend I went to Waterton to meet with the other exchange students, and it was so much fun!! I even saw three bears on my way there!
I just love all the other exchange students! It`s awesome to have them to support me during this year. I think that Rotary Youth Exchange is an awesome program and everyone should try it! I`m in love with this thing.
