New start

Depois de um ano em um país super frio é bom estar de volta a esse clima tropical

(mesmo que agora eu esteja de volta na minha cidadezinha fria no sudeste do país, bem longe da Bahia aonde eu tirei essa foto no início do mês...)

De volta ao bom e velho país (nada supera esse nosso Brasil), voltando a falar a língua nativa (a tortura da gramática portuguesa), revendo velhos amigos, visitando a família linda, mudando pra uma cidade nova (mais uma vez), indo pra uma escola nova (ninguém merece primeiro dia de aula), conhecendo gente nova (não estou preparada pra ser sociável), mudando o cabelo (espero né gente) E dando ao blog um cabeçalho novo, além de estar mudando algumas coisas por aqui.

Ufa, quanta coisa nova em julho minha gente! Será que dou conta? Espero que sim né!

Acontece que voltar pra casa é mais difícil do que eu pensava!

After a year in an oh so cold country it's good to be back to this tropical country

(even though I'm back to my cold little city south of where this picture was taken in the beginning of the month...)

Back to the old country, talking the native language, seeing old friends, going to visit the fam, moving into a new city (once more), going to a new school (torture of the first day all over again), meeting new people (ready to be nice?), (hopefully) getting a new hair cut aand giving the blog a new header, changing some stuff around here.

Dang, that's a lot! I wonder if I'll get through this month lol

K after this oh so busy speech I need to say: being home is harder than I thought!

What people wanna know

Every time someone asks me about my exchange, they ask about my grad / graduation or in American terms, prom. So that's why I decided to tell you a little bit about it. My grad was divided between two days: the cap and gown ceremony (the one we walk across the stage) on the first day and the banquet  on the second day (we drove around in a party bus  taking pictures for a few hours, went to the fancy banquet in our fabulous dresses and then went to our safe grad- the part where we actually party).
It was pretty fun and also a good way to say good bye to my Canadian friends.

Toda vez que alguém me pergunta sobre o meu intercâmbio a primeira coisa que eles querem saber é como foi minha formatura ou grad ou prom pros americanos. E é por isso que eu decidi contar pra vocês um pouquinho sobre a minha experiência nesse rito de passagem norte americano. A formatura aconteceu durante dois dias: no primeiro dia atravessamos o palco usando becas e no segundo dia tivemos o banquete (andamos de party bus por algumas horas pra tirar fotos por Calgary, depois chegamos ao banquete e depois do banquete fomos para a safe grad - que é aonde a festa acontece de verdade).
A formatura foi muito divertida e um ótimo jeito de dizer adeus aos meus amigos canadenses.

Monday I left Canada ending my exchange and got back to real life tuesday when I arrived home. My trip was the limbo between those two realities so far apart but that are equally parts of me, they make me who I am.

Segunda eu deixei o Canadá, dando fim ao meu intercâmbio e voltando pra vida real terça quando eu cheguei em casa. A minha viagem foi o limbo separando essas duas realidades tão diferentes mas que igualmente fazem parte de mim, fazendo com que eu seja quem eu sou.

What to do when you are an exchange student in Canada...

Canoe trip (camping in the rain for 8 days and canoeing for 3)

Acampamos na chuva durante 8 dias e aprendemos a "andar de canoa" (é assim que fala?) durante 3 dias

Walk around a park with friends than go to the grocery store and buy junk food

Passear num parque com as amigas depois de ir no mercado comprar porcaria

Grad prank (block the school's parking lot and make a little party there)

Pegadinha de formatura (bloqueamos o estacionamento da escola e fizemos uma festinha por lá)

Visit the Columbia ice field with the counselor and her daughter

Visitar o campo de gelo Columbia com a conselheira e a filha dela

Go out with the girls

Sair com as meninas

Exchange banners with your host club

Trocar banners com seu host club

Go out with friends

Sair com as amigas

Feed the horses

Alimentar os cavalos

Go to a fire

Ir em uma festa no parque e fazer uma fogueira com amigos (coisa de canadense)

Have a camp fire / farewell party with the host families

Ter uma fogueira / festa junina / festa de despedida com as host families

And go out with the girls a little more

E sair com as meninas mais uma vez

Hey everyone, sorry I've been away for such a long time, I mean it's been a MONTH since I posted for the last time here :o I know it's bad but I just haven't had any time, I leave Canada pretty soon so I've been trying to enjoy it here as much as I can and that meant no time for making good posts. My opinion is if I'm not gonna do something right it's better not to do it so that's why didn't post anything at all.

This post is to show you guys what I've been doing lately and maybe you can have an idea of things to do in Canada, I mean this blog is about traveling too right?

Oi gente, quanto tempo né! Faz um mês que eu não posto nada aqui! :o Eu sei que é mancada mas eu não tive tempo de fazer um post decente, eu to indo pra casa logo então eu tenho aproveitado o Canadá ao máximo e isso consumiu meu tempo completamente. Na minha opinião se eu não puder fazer algo direito é melhor não fazer nada sabe

Where do I belong?

This week two of my best friend's had their birthdays, one of them back in Brazil and the other here in Canada. I was able to celebrate with my Canadian friend but not with the Brazilian... next year it will be the opposite, I'll be close to my Brazilian friends but far from the Canadian ones.

Being an exchange student divides us in between two worlds, all of the sudden we have two homes, two of our own countries, two parallel universes which are only connected by ourselves. We will always be missing someone, somewhere, something that in our minds was supposed to be different. That is the beauty and the challenge of being an exchange student, being only one person and belonging to two different places.

Waterton

Bear!!

This past weekend I went to Waterton to meet with the other exchange students, and it was so much fun!! I even saw three bears on my way there! 

I just love all the other exchange students! It`s awesome to have them to support me during this year. I think that Rotary Youth Exchange is an awesome program and everyone should try it! I`m in love with this thing.
